Why is it important to use a Registered Piano Technician to tune or repair my piano?

Your piano is amazing!  It has more than 10,000 individual parts that need to be properly maintained in order to keep it looking and sounding its best.

A Registered Piano Technician (or RPT) is a tuner or technician who is required to pass a rigorous series of tests administered by the Piano Technicians Guild.

An RPT must be able to perform specialized maintenance and repair of a piano such as voicing, string repair, and regulation and pass a written exam.  They must have an intimate understanding of piano mechanics in order to pass this test.

RPT’s are also tested on how to do standard tunings and pitch raises. They must have the ability to tune a piano without the use of an electronic tuner.  Most Registered Piano Technicians have performed well over 1000 tunings on a variety of new and used pianos before passing the Piano Technicians Guild exam.

They are also tested on many things including how to disassemble and assemble the moving parts (action) of a piano.

Registered Piano Technicians also continue to enhance their skills and knowledge  through their affiliation with other technicians and suppliers.

Hiring a Registered Piano Technician will ensure that your upright or grand piano is getting the very best care available to keep it sounding  amazing throughout your lifetime.

A properly maintained piano can outlast the life of your car or even your home!  Here at Brigham Larson Pianos, you can feel confident that your piano is receiving the best possible care!  To schedule a piano tuning or have your piano maintenanced, please call us at  801-701-0113 or visit us at brighamlarsonpianos.com.   We are Utah’s exclusive Hailun dealer!
